Heavy steering with new steering box
I replaced the steering box on my wifes 99 S10 TrailBlazer and now it has a very heavy feel to it. It's heavier than my BIL's 3/4 Silverado. Everything is working fine though but Steering was fairly light before.
Wife hates it of course. Is there a way to adjust feel, different spring in the box or something? |
Assuming you got pressure and return lines right, the only other thing that comes to mind is the internal torshen bar. The bigger it is the less assist you have. It cannot be changed without a total dissassembly. You have the box all the dime trucks (me too) want!

Yea....I'd double checked the lines with the manual to make sure they were not on backwards. Was kinda hoping thats what it was initially...lol.

on the older gear boxes they had adjuster nuts on them to adjust the "tightness" of the turning. like if you turn a corner the wheel should return, you can tighten it and make it so the wheel sticks. but not sure if you can still do that on newer stuff

That 'adjuster' is not for that. That is a sector backlash adjuster. You can F up your box really quick if you dont know what you are doing. Ask me how I know
