Default I want to Ride on a cloud

So any suggestions ?

So only had my 1998 ZR2 for a week now and it looks like it had a tough life. The Stock Bilstein's are rusted and in place still 185,000 miles later. With 31 x 10.5 tires on the truck I am looking for the smoothest street ride possible.

I did several searches and have read for past few nights now and over and over I read about handling ans sport feel but not comfort. I don't want to lose my fillings hitting pot holes like I am now. I live in a urban area and city driving is what I do most.

Monroe's sensa tracs have a rebate right now ($40) and with the coupon codes for advance auto parts ($30) they look like a cheap choice just over $100 all around. but rather hear from your experience.

Did I mention I am cheap?

Any real world suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW: I will be replacing rear shackles they are rusted to holy heck possible 1.5 lift in the back to compensate for old springs. Not sure if this factors in to the shock choice.

..
What I put on cuz I didnt like the Delphi's that were on there. Rides better. The Delphi's still had gas in them and no oil smear so I assume they were working

It's NEVER gonna ride like an Escalade, though.

Huh! Get new springs, dont screw around. Chances are you go through that and then they break.

added: or look at these:

Make sure both rears sag equal though. Disc sway link and measure both sides

I appreciate the feedback on the Delphi, yeah I know it won't be a Cadillac figured I try to get it right the first time, and not buy whatever and regret it 6 months down the line and wind up looking to do it again.

Anyone else?

Stick with the Bilsteins, no better shock for a ZR2. If you want a smooth ride, sell the ZR2 and get a car.

Just saying.

Bilstein's are stupid expensive. The man said he wanted something to help ride better, not break the bank.

Imo, Rancho makes some good shocks.

Quit apologizing for banter, Gi'anni*.. not good form on a forum. Hell, I'd be doing nothing but!

The guy likes the looks of a ZR-2 but wants it to ride like a Bravada.

So what... call it a 'MOD'. Aint against modding are ya, AJ?

Now if he was also running 33" knobby MT's, I'd poke fun at him too.

swap out all the springs and torsion bars for non-zr2 parts, shocks aren't going to help much, if at all. ZR2's ride rough, there's not much you can do about it.

That's a good idea. Dunno if I'd bother with the TB's, but the rears would make a difference. You SHOULD be able to find someone who would do an even swap plus pay shipping.
Problem is.. if rears are sagging like you think, what is the point. Just get rears off a nice wrecked bravada.

Leave the sways alone.. at least I would. the thing that annoys me most on highway is expansion joints. Sways arent affected and I like tight cornering

I lol'ed! =P.

Screw your average M/T's, Super Swampers give the best ride on the highway going 60 or 70.
