inner/outer tie rod replacement

Hey guys/gals,

I'm going to replace the inner/outer/adjuster sleeve on my 98 LS. I have never done tie rods before and was wondering the best way to go about it.

Should I use a pickle fork and separate the inner tie rod first, then separate the outer tie rod?

Is a pickle fork the way to go about this?

yep fork is the winner.

Just count the threads of each tie rod end. leave that many exposed with the new ones. It'll help the alignment guy out.

^x2 I count the turns to get the old off and put the new one on the same amount and it gets it close so the alignment guy usually only has to make small adjustments. It doesnt cost less but it's less time you have to spend drinking the crappy coffee in the waiting area of a auto shop:)

If the waiting area even has coffee.
