Lift or no lift?
I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer LS and I am considering a lift. However, I have no skill or much knowledge with lifts and whatnot.
Should I lift it? If so, here are a few questions: Where would I get something like this done? Cost? And, what type? Suspension lift, body lift, or both perhaps? Thanks. |
Do some searching on here and you will find all of your answers besides your personal choice of whether or not to actually do it! Theres more info in here then you will ever need:)

I was thinking of the same thing with my '95 S10 Blazer LT. Don't know what I could do but can't do anything until I get the loan pay off. 5 more payments to go then it pay off.

I have owned 4x4s since the 70s. In fact I have always had one or more 4x4s in my vehicle pool since the early 70s. I grew up in the high desert of Nevada. I have used 4x4s more than most.
Bottom line is I never had one lifted or will ever have one lifted & I can take a stock 4x4 into places that most lifted can't go. Because off-roading is about a drivers skill. So I see lifting a 4x4 a BIG waste of money, time, & equipment. The only time I would consider suspension mods is if I was building a pure race truck or rock climber. Then there becomes a need for mods. Because when your running 180 mph across the desert you need travel. I have spent my early days in the race scene so I'm a little familiar with these type vehicles. In fact I helped the pit crew for one of the top Pro Truck drivers to run Baja & SCORE. |
Well Blazerguy, you do raise a good point. I most likely will not lift it and I might focus more on engine performance and whatnot. Thank you.

I think the single best investement in a truck would be a nice set of tires. You can be lifted all you want, but if you're just spinning, the lift is irrelevent. Save up n throw some nice tires on for now, then if you're finding you're bottoming out, then it would be time to install a lift according to the trails!
