Loose Ball Joints Need Replacing
Possibly a stupid question but.... I need get my ball joints replaced and my plan is to do them between xmas and new years(whole week off). I'm starting to get the clunking sound on the driver side (started a day or two ago). My question is will I be ok driving on it for the next 2 weeks until i have the time to get it taken care of or do i need to drop what I'm doing and get it in asap? '03 2dr 4wd.
Thanks for the advise T |
ehhhh balljoints cant be played with. that clunk......do you have 4wd? might be the torsion bar mounts are broken. they cause a clunk at your feet.

also what should i look for on the torison bar mounts? so I know thats the clunk? |
crawl under the truck. you see the torsion bars that run into a crossmember behind the transfercase? scoot over to that crossmember.... you see the part in red in the picture, push up and down on it with a crowbar,or heck if your strong enough like me you can push up on it. if it moves up and down that mount is bad..you have one on each side of the frame. check both. one ones bad replace both as the other one is going o die soon too.
if one or both is bad let me know,i have a few other tips with this issue http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4...onmount.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us edit : I forgot i had made a short clip when mine went bad. http://youtu.be/CAuTLuArOmw |

Thanks for that little picture chris, I have noticed on the passenger side when turning left in my 93 there is a clunking/slapping sound under the feet of the passenger side when hitting bumps, slightly makes it when going right, but not nearly as bad, this kind of describes the problem, how hard is this to replace the mounts?
