Loud bang heard and felt under truck when backing up

did you use the wheels that came with the tires?
in your first post it reads like you did...are one of the holes for the studs rounded out?
".......- Tires just replaced with secondhand snow tires and rims (tires had 12/32 left - basically new and rims were off an S-10 in excellent condition). ...."

Chevrolet Silverado bad u-joint or slip yoke? - YouTube
Exactly as I am describing. But the yoke was polished and checked when the pinion seal was replaced weeks ago! How could it just go bad? I think I saw them check the U-Joints when the driveshaft was hanging from the T-case. Can I just live with the noise or does that mean that there is a bigger problem? When the cover was removed last year/10,000 miles ago, the mechanic didn't report anything wrong with the differential internals, so I think that the diff is not the problem. How could the yoke go bad? Does this mean that it can break? It has done the noise going into gear for a long time intermittently, but it stopped after each time I replaced the TPS sensor. It only seems to want to do it in reverse 7/10 of the time and drive .5-1/10 of the time (or less). The remainder there is no noise.

Try grabbing the driveshaft while in gear and see how much play you have when trying to turn it. A bad u joint can cause a popping sound when force is changed. Just a thought.

yeah, not at all what i thought you were describing at all...i was way off.
yeah, check all the joints for sure...front and rear drive shaft.
not saying your mech is bad...but could have forgot a clip on the joint.
never know. check that asap, dont want to break a u joint going down the road.
check tranny mount too.
