Need Shock Advice ASAP!
I have been putting off getting some shocks till tax time. I called my local Chev dealer and they want quite a bit over what I have found online. My brother in law says that he regrets putting the edelbrocks on his tahoe and hated that he put toxic shocks in the trans am. Both vehicles came with bilsteins. I have been in both the tahoe and Trans Am and dont like the ride either. He rants and raveson aboutthe Bilstein's he had. I wanted to get your point of view.I liked the ride of the Bilstein when I first got the2dr but with now over 63K on them I am not liking it. I was wondering if I should purchase new bilsteins or try a brand other than the 2 previously mentioned.

That's pretty wild you're dropping them after 63k. Ive got close to 100k on mine and it still feels pretty good. I am planning on new shocks with my 100k mile service, so I'm sure I will realize just how worn these Bilsteins are, but for now, they ride very smooth:D

Mine are pretty crappy. I drive through 3 cites/1 roadon my way to work. Construction is long over due on this 55mph/15 mile strip. Plus my daily drive to and from workover a rotten concrete bridge with holes and dips. I have owned the truck for exactly one year and 3 weeks. the ride at first was amazing but has dwindled since Sept.

i like my factory bilsteins. if i ever need to replace them i'll stick with em, don't think that'll be for awhile though since I only have 47000 miles on my truck.

I went with Ranchos and like them. But they do give a much stiffer ride, so you will feel the bumps more.

RE: Need Shock Advice ASAP!
I would just replace them with the factory shocks unless you want something stiffer!!

RE: Need Shock Advice ASAP!
The Edlebrock IAS shocks are nice, but better suited for 4x4 and they really stiffen up the ride. If you want something cushy/more road worthy I would stick with the bilsteins or try out either KYB Monomax's or Monroe Reflex/sensa-trac shocks. I know swartlkk can vouch for the monroe's and my Dad's suburban ride great with the KYB Monomax's.
