Default New/Reman Steering Box Recommendations?

78 K5 4WD, box (casting) number 7802644, Saginaw 708.

If you bought one RECENTLY (!) ...(not 15 years ago...)

Which company did you get a box from, did it work well? The word from the Turbo Diesel Forum in 2012 was that no company supplied this User with a box that was good, they all had damage in the case that allowed the sector needle bearing to wander around under load:

Any manual gearbox substitutes / sources or does anyone have an old manual gearbox to sell? Im considering eliminating the PS system as we never off road. I can do major rebuild and have access to a machine shop.

Last year when I was looking for a replacement steering box for my 99 Blazer with power steering, I went with RedHead. They and Blue Top perform a more thorough rebuild according to them both. Of the two I went with the Red Head because I could pick it up personally.
