pitman arm?
 

Alright I would like some opinions on the pitman arm because I'm haveing to replace mine should I go ahead and buy an upgrade/more expensive one or just buy the oem replacement? Just a stock 4x4 s10 blazer no lift

I just re-did the front end of my jimmy, replacing all 4 balls joints, tie-rods, and idler arm. The kit i bought also came with a pitman arm but i did not replace mine because you have to take out the steering box to change it, and the stock one that's been in there for almost 170k miles was still working fine, so i would say just stick with OEM and it will hold up just fine, most likely for the rest of your truck's life. Just make sure to grease the replacement well and it should never give you any problems.

Where'd you get this kit? I'm having to do the same with mine and buying in bulk would be a LOT easier, I'm needing to replace ball joints tie rods idler arm pitman arm and i think there was one more arm?? :icon_shrug:

I'm not sure I sold my 94 and bought this 95 with 130k miles and the old owner put new ball joints and idler arm on it and I did the tie rod ends and still have to put the pitman arm on went with the oem and it was like $22

And I'm probably putting it on this weekend and also getting it aligned but it needs the pitman arm bad there's a good quarter to one third turn in the steering before the tires start to turn. Its bad

removing the gear box really isnt such a pain. ive been doing alot of these at work. access to a impact is a must though. you just take the three bolts off holding it to the frame, leave everything else connected except the pitman arm ball joint of course. then spin it sideways so you can get at the bolt then put the puller on it and impact away. BUT as was said if the pitman arm is fine. leave it the heck alone. ive seen where they wouldnt come off so easy
