Default Power Steering Quirky

2002 with 160,000 miles. Occasionally while driving down the road and normal speeds (55 mph) the steering will pulse in one direction or the other. Not enough to turn the wheels but you can feel a noticeable pulsation in the steering wheel and of course it never does it when I am driving. Only my wife. Power steering fluid level is normal. I have never changed it. I initially though air but have on several occasions at a full stop turned the wheel fully back and forth several times. Seems to work sometimes but not sure. This has been a consistent problem on and off for the past three weeks. Is my power steering pump going bad? Any ideas? Thank you, Ed

I found a leak where the rubber power steering oil line connects to the cooler. The cooler line is pretty rusty and has a small leak. Going to replace the cooler with a new one. After market coolers are a lot less money, than OEM. Any personal experience with the aftermarket ones good or bad? Will flush system when done. I expect this to correct the problem.
