Rim touches upper arm
2 Attachment(s)
I can't turn my wheels to maximum left without having the left front stock rim rub against the upper control arm. (2 pics attached)
I think (not really sure) it all started after I cranked the torsion bars, although it used to happen before the cranking, but only when wheels are locked to max left and down a steep hill. I also changed upper and lower joints on both sides and have my upper ones flipped (mounted on the the control arms) but I had the previous ones mounted the same way for 3 years. What could the reason be and what are the fixes for it (keeping in mind that I want to keep my T.B. cranked)? |

Update:
Today I went and checked the front alignment, needed some camber tuning on one side. After alignment, rim was still touching the upper control arm. The guy told me that the problem is the ball joints which need to be on top of the control arm, he also told me that I can grind some off the arm if I want to keep the joints flipped. So I came home, tried to grind a very little off the arm (as I don't like the idea of messing up with the touching point as it's the bent part that gives the arm it's rigidity), still the rim was touching the arm. I flipped the joints on both sides L & R to top of control arms, and the rim is still rubbing against the arm. What should I do? Could it be the caster (the guy told me that it was good)? |
Rubbing on control arm
Hey, I have the same issue currently. I have stock rims with larger tires and the RC lift and control arms. I have found out the only way to solve it is to get a different offset wheel or get wheel spacers. It sucks.

When you crank the t bar you pull the top of your tire in making your rim closer to the arm. sooooo,,, offset rims, spacers, or a longer upper control arm. Longer arms come with lift kits. Thats about all you can do
