Shocks
 

Hi I am new to the forum. I have a 2000 s10 blazer 4 door ls. I have replaced the torsion keys and rear shackles to achieve a 3.5 to 4 inch lift. I have put 31x10.5r15 on stock rims. My question is do I need to replace the factory shocks and possibly the a-arms?

Pretty sure the most you can get from keys and shackles is around 2", a 4" lift shackle would be 8" longer than stock.

Im sure your shocks will be ok, but it's going to put stress on your cv shafts, ball joints, etc. Do some research around here, there's tons of documentation on the various ways to lift your truck.

How do the 31x10.50 tires work on stock rims? I'm planning on 33x10.50 after my lift is done. Rough Country says that it will rub with stock rims (6" backspacing) and I need something with 4.5-5.0"

I have 31/10.50/15s Hankooks on stock rims on my 4X4 rx7 toy - on super tight turns they touch slightly but not enough to worry about, 33s might be a problem but the width should be the same so maybe not.

My 31's only rub at full turn.

30's do not rub but 31's will with my 2" lift.

I installed the Rough Country upper control arms so that the upper ball joint geometry would be better for the lift.

I was thinking of getting the rc a-arms instead of yhe whole kit being that I already have the torsion keys and rear shackles.

It is possible that with your lift ....when the suspension fully extends that your shocks may hit the end of travel and prematurely wear out...... It is said that this can happen on a ZR2 with regular shocks so I would think this could happen with your current set up.

That is basically what I did for my lift, minus the new torsion bar keys.

I had to address this problem too. Since one of my front shocks was bad I had an excuse to get two new front shocks that were 2" longer. However for the rear with my funky ZW7 Premium Ride suspension that has softer than normal rear springs supplemented by self-leveling shocks, I instead added spacers to where the shocks mounted to the frame so I could use the original shocks.
