is the torsion key bad...

so i got all new front end parts. was like this before i even started. my question is. passenger side torsion key is all the way compressed meaning the bolt is bottomed out. as the driver side you can see the bolt and the front end is where its supposed to be on driver side. is my key worn out? nothing is broke. any info would be great. this is my first torsion bar vehicle.

One thing you could do is loosen both side until "just" slack. Then check the orientation of the flats on the torsion bar at the front and at the back on the good one. Example are the flats in line with each other or clocked. Then check the bad side and see if the clocking is different.

It would be pretty freakin' massive if that bar twisted enough to have a very visible difference side to side. Those bars scare the heck outta me and I'm fearless. I stay the hell away from them.

The more likely thing is that something in the a-arms is binding. With bar released put a floor jack under the hub and try to jack the a-arm up.

You know it. Those are part of the reason I didnt buy a new Chevy truck.

Had a mech once told me a torsion bar broke in his shop, said it sounded like a shotgun went off.
