Transfer case

On my other blazer I plan on doing a SAS and keeping the differential on the drivers side, BUT, will I be able to? How much can the stock t-case on these handle? I plan on either a 1/2 or 3/4 ton front axle with 38s. will the stock t-case be able to handle this or should I get a full size t-case or use one from a full size chevy with the differential on the passenger side?

Are you doing an engine swap, as well? And, if so, what's the torque output of that engine?

The engine load on the transfer case wont change much, but there will be far more strain in the transfer case when in 4wd and turning because there is more traction and leverage with bigger tires. With 35" tires my transfer case has had no issues. The Blazers already come with the bigger chain in the t/c, but I'm not sure if the '95 has the 6 pinion planetary(96+ do)

I plan on doing a 350 swap, keeping the 4L60e for the transmission. Its a 96 Jimmy. I understand the strain issue, I wont have 4x4 engaged the entire time unless I need it. But 38-40 inch tires is what I plan on running. So should it be alright?

Yeah im sure it would be fine, the transfer cases in the blazers are pretty big. They aren't much smaller than the ones in a full-size, ive seen then side by side. But transfer cases aren't expensive at a salvage yard. Although im not 100% sure on 95 tho

With a stock 350 the t/c should be fine. If you start building up the engine you will find it's limits pretty quick.

Does the dash have 2HI, 4HI, 4LO. (3 button) or 2HI, 4HI, 4LO 4AUTO (4 button)?

3 button is a np233

4 button is a np236
