Typical GM steering slop
Hello all, Any suggestions to where to start looking to fix the slop out of my steering? I have a '92 full size Blazer. I checked the upper and lower ball joints along with the tie rod ends and they appear ok. I will probably look at the pitman and idler next when I get to put it up on a car lift again. Any other suggestions while I'm under there. Thanks, T

rag joint or idler. common

I second Chris015, rag joint or idler. Getting ready to fix it the right way - Upgrade s 10 GMC Blazer Steering Column Sector Shaft U Joint Coupler Rag Joint | eBay This is for my S10, BUT the same guy takes custom orders, he just needs to know the length of the shaft while installed in your rig, message him, and he'll get to work. Nothing but good things is what I've heard.

Hey newguy, can you please explain "Can be upgraded cheaper and easier" Is there a thread I'm missing with a fix which would work better?

Oops, guess its not cheaper, but may be easier

every 90s chevy that comes into the shop has a bad pitman and idler arm. my 90 chevy chewed up 3 cheap idlers within 2 years, finally put a moog on it. all my slop now is in the gearbox itself. a good way to check it is have someone in the truck move the wheel back and forth and see if you are getting movement anywhere

ABig84, you prefer Moog brand pitman and idler assy? The local parts house carries that brand. If you've had good luck with them, I'll give them a whirl. Thanks, T

either Moog or Reybestos are very good brands that i have found for idler and pitmans and they are very compatable price wise |
