Hi forum, honestly, i wanted to avoid posting this thread due to the amount of information out there, but theres so much even using google with "blazer forum" in it is hard to find specific information for a specific problem, which brings me here.
Just started having this problem tonight, getting a clinking sound only when switching from Drive to reverse. after trying about 10 times, no other combination will do it.
I'm sure this probably goes along with the other clink noise that happens when i coast for a bit and hit the gas, the clink happens just after you hit the gas and theres that little jerk.

This could be completely normal. It could be caused by the lash between the ring and pinion gears in the rear axle.

best way to check is go under the truck and grab the driveshaft and push it in a bunch of different directions. you can do it with the truck on the ground if you can fit. just put the truck in neutral and block the tires so theirs no strain on the driveline but would be better with the rear in the air.

ok, tried this, put it in neutral, put ebrake on and tried to twist the driveshaft back and forth. it was pretty stiff but i could move it a bit and it had a little bit of play in it and made a little noise too, like click,click as i turned back and forth.

I would guess its the u joint. If it has any movement within the u joints then its bad. I took my t-case out today and noticed I had a hair of movement in my rear joint. So pulled it apart and the needle bearings in one cap were rusted to heck. The other 3 were holding the thing together

is it a cheap(er) fix if taken to a mechanic?
