using a 3.08 limited slip rear end...i want faster.
 

Im looking for faster acceleration and willing to sacrifice top speed as i normally dont ever exceed 65...Well i know nothing about rear ends etc,but i was told higher the ratio the faster off the line is but you loose top speed right? Well what would you suggest? trucks been dropped 3 inches,running 215/75/15's on front and 235's on back,i know i know,but they was free for really nice tires.il end up going all 215's later.Anyways what do i need to do about getting a higher gear ratio? can i replace the rear end with something higher from like a salvage yard off another car? or is it cheaper to buy what i need to change the gears i have now? id also like to have positrac thanks...im a idiot when it comes to this subject.



p.s. i do have a junk 74 chevy k10 with a positrac rear end,not sure on ratio...but would it work on my blazer? specs in sig.

The simplest thing would be get the entire axle assembly and swap it in. You should look for a Blazer with 3.42, 3.73, ot 4.10 rear gearing (btw, it's lower not higher). Don't come crying about your fuel mileage dropping, though. :icon_wink:

my big blazer has 3.08 gears and 33 in tires. it is kinda a turd around town but does good on the hyway.

You would notice a big difference if you were to swap to 3.73 gears in the rear. It would be best to find an axle from another s-series though since the fullsize axles are MUCH wider.

is there a kit i can buy and swap something out in the rear i have now? I wouldnt be doing it myself,i have a good mechanic friend of mine that will swap out labor for electrical work :P if so exact product links please!.thanks you

There are tons of them. Do not be afraid to search through sites like Jegs.com, SummitRacing.com, or other sites that carry rear end components. Just put in your vehicle details and search away. Your only limit is your wallet.
