Weird 4wd problem

I have a 2000 blazer with push button 4wd. When I bought it the buttons for the 4wd were not plugged in. So I plugged them in and tried to engage the 4wd. The light comes on and it sounds like it's engaging but then my front left wheel won't turn. It completely locks up and I can't move until i put it back in 2wd. It might be both front wheels but the left one is for sure. I haven't found anything remotely similar in my web searches. Anyone know what this could be? I'm in the process of switching it to manual shift with a shifter lever for the transfer case and a cable for the differential run into the cab. And help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the Blazer forum.

Is the front wheel not 'turning' (binding) in 4wd while you're driving on dry or wet pavement?

If so, try it again while driving on snow, ice, or loose dirt (with no pavement underneath). Most, if not all, 4wd vehicles will bind up in 4wd while be driven on dry or wet pavement andr other 'high traction' surfaces. 4wd is only to be used on snow, ice, loose dirt, etc.

If not, I'd suspect a fault in the TCCM, front differential, and/or transfer case (which could very well be why the '4wd' button/selectors were unplugged when you bought it).
