Whinning or loud Humming from right front

Hi everyone, Love this forum and I love my Blazer. 2000 Blazer LS ZR2 160K 2dr. I have a loud whining noise coming from my right front tire. Thought it was the bearing, given that the inside tread of that tire was excessively worn. Replaced hub with a thought to be good one I had lying around. Sound returned after taking a short trip on the highway and back off. I was taking back roads out of concern of its safety to work and back.

Switch it into 4wd high to determine the sound difference and the loud whining or humming sound disappeared to a almost inaudible humming or road noise, from the right front I have done this several times with the same results, also when switching back into 2wd. a loud clunk or two is heard. I am thinking a bad CV Joint on the passenger side, I am planning to rebuild the transmission next summer, just because it is probably due and the rear seal is starting to leak.

Anyone have any similar issue or knowledge in this area I would greatly appreciate. RPM's have no effect but MPH do have a effect on pitch and loudness of whine, especially decelerating.

Check this out:

Then get your front end aligned when you get new tires;)

Hope that helps!

Transfer Case Switch

Does anyone know which are the 2 Vacuum lines on the Switch. There is a small Nipple that sticks up among the three vacuum nozzles. My vacuum lines may have gotten switched when a exhaust hose ruptured and burnt through some lines.

Thanks for all the help guys, the switch or the cable sticking is my problem I am sure of it. I drove it a little over a week like that, I hope I did not tear up the gears to much.

Great Links, I am sure that those will help solve allot of other peoples problems with there 4wd and noise issues coming from the front drive.

Like I said Love his Forum

The tech article link I provided shows the arrangement of the vacuum lines at the mechanical transfer case switch used on the nv233 3-button setup.
