2X4 Conversion

New to the forum, long time Chevy owner.

My question is, Has anyone gone the wrong way and made a 4x4 into a 2 wheel drive? Want to buy back my 74' Blazer and turn in to a cool street machine. Have a friend that works at a body shop, he says that he's 99% sure you can bolt a independent front onto the 4x4 frame... Anybody done this thing???

Also check out the Cardomain and check out the Blazer.

Thanks,
Rich-

For a 4x2 I think you need a different tail end for the tranny and a driveshaft that is longer. (after removing the t case.)

Ya the 700r behind the 406 is the easy part. Make a new drive line to handle the 400 hp and Im good to go.
IT's the front crossmember bolting up to the frame where the leaf springs were. On a 2wd rig there is a few extra holes punched into the frame, the break lines are in a different location and there is a dent punched in from the out side of the frame to clear the upper "A" Arm.

Anyone do this convertion?
