Add a Leaf / Helper Springs
Looking around the forum for info on add a leaf / helper springs that don't really lift the vehicle. Took a heavily loaded camping trip, with top rack filled, back filled but one seat, and a spare tire/gas/ice chest hitch mount on the back onto some 4/5 trails and the blazer was dragging major ass. Springs were close to flat, the BL and and shackle lift were gone and the tires where about 1-2" off the wheel well again before dragging the tow hitch over about everything.
Are there any progressive helper springs out there that do not add to the lift of the truck but supports it back to current height when loaded? |
I have some helper springs on mine (Hellwig?) that I don't torque to settings until I hook up the camping trailer. The rest of the time I just back off on the rear u-bolts until they are about 3/4" off the spring pack. If I keep them torqued the read end rides a bit rough, but not too bad.
And to answer your question, I haven't noticed any lift on the rear end since I've installed them. I guess I could throw my 33's back on and see if I get a little scrubbing at full compression to really tell, I suppose. Pretty sure I would. |
