pitman arm?

so i got a 89 K5 with a 4" lift with leafs up front... do all blazers have the coils, or did some come with leafs up front? still a noob with what comes for set-ups on rigs, but anyways,,, i have the stock pitman arm in it, and was told i need a dropped pitman arm cuz of the lift. now for now what does that do or affect by running the stock pitman arm? does it just affect steering or does it hurt anything?

All 4wd K5's had leaf springs at all 4 corners. In '92, the front suspension setup changed to match the rest of the fullsize line to use torsion bars and an independent front suspension, dropping the solid front axle. As such, the '92 and later Blazers/Jimmys (and later called Tahoe Sports) were not K5's in the traditional sense.

All s-series 4wd trucks use the torsion bar setup.

As far as the pitman arm goes, I would definitely suggest a drop pitman arm if you are going to stay with the stock steering setup. The push/pull drag-link setup sucks in general. Many drop this for what is called the 'cross-over' steering arrangement. This requires the passenger side steering knuckle be swapped for the Dana 44 flat top knuckle drilled & tapped to allow for the steering bracket to be bolted onto it. Then an aftermarket pitman arm (or a 2wd steering box and re-indexed pitman arm) can be used and a tie-bar is fabbed to tie the pitman arm to the passenger side knuckle.

hmm well thats good to know, thank you, i guess for now i will try to find just the pitman arm, that other set-up seems really legit, but complicated for now... i will need to find some posts on that...
