Removing top control arm?

Dads blazers had a bad clunk on hard turns for a few weeks. checked it and thought it was the idler arm,it was bad. Well it still clunked,so i looked again. One of the driver side control arm bushings is bad/completely gone.

I thought all i had to do was remove the 2 bolts, and pop loose the balljoint but when i felt behind the top of the arm i could feel other bolts or something..

aka...

How the heck do i remove this puppy? Do the new bushing press in?? Is it a pita?

What year and is it 2WD or 4WD? Upper or lower control arm?

The bushings are press fit but if the old bushing is gone, the control arm is probably damaged. Way cheaper, easier, and better to replace the entire control arm. The two other bolts under the arm that you feel are bump stops.

2wd,Im wondering if its damaged too. What i'll probably do is hit up the pull it yard and get a whole arm. Maybe il get lucky and find one with a aftermarket balljoint. then after i get it in il head to the alignment shop.

Good plan ;) When you separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle, the knuckle and lower control arm will drop an inch or two, (keep body parts clear, it makes a pretty good BANG). You'll need a floor jack under the lower control arm to raise it back up during reassembly.
