Shackle Question

I just got done installing my homemade shackles and i went 3.5" more bolt to bolt and i would really like to go more if i could because im still getting a little sag. How much higher can i go with them safely? How much further apart are the 2" shackles you would buy already made than the stock shackles?

Ok so i was doing alittle bit of research and found i actually only raised my truck 1.75" with my 3.5" longer than stock shackle. So that being said i should be able to go up to at least 6" longer than stock seeing how guys are running 3" shackles correct?

If your asking about how long of a shackle you can run, you should check your local vehicle inspection laws. IE in WV, you "legally" can't run any shackle longer than 2 inches over stock shackle lenth. So if your area is really anal about inspections, talk to somebody that knows the law first. :icon_deal:

Now, that the "legal" disclaimer is out of the way, on to real talk :icon_teeth:. You can buy three inch lift shackles from 3leaffab on ebay. They are a whopping six, yeah SIX inches long. There is a member on here with a ZR2 blazer that runs them,
"Blazerguy2001" is his forum name. Look up his build thread and see what you think about them.

Not saying you have to buy those shackles. But if your making your own, you could get an idea of what other people have ran safely.

Yeah your right. Where you're only adjusting the rear of the leaf springs and not the front, you get half the lift. IE 3 inch longer than factory shackle= 1.5 inch lift. 6 inch longer than factory shackle=3 inch lift.

Ok good because i got a little disappointed after i installed my shackles thinking i went 3.5" taller than stock and still seeing the rear sagging. When i made my shackles i also drilled 2 extra holes incase i ran into to this problem so ill just have to unbolt the bottom and switch holes so it should be 1, 2, 3.

Yeah, alot of people don't think about the whole 1/2 lift thing. Good thing you pre drilled the holes on the shackles. That way you don't have to try to drill them while still on the blazer or have to take them off. You oughta post some pics when you get done, if you get a chance or have a camera.
