Zr2 Front Diff Swap

So i know its possible and ive done a ton of searching and have seen it done. With that said i just have one question, do i really only need the front diff and thats it? To me it just doesnt seem like just swapping the diff will widen the front end. I already have a zr2 rear axle and my front has 3.42 gears so i thought i might as well try widening the front while getting the right gears. Any help would be appreciated.

first off it is very important that the front and rear diffs have the same ratios.

from what i have found is that all the drive train stuff is the same (except for the 8.5" rear slightly wider)its the frame and the cv axles that are longer, and it seems that the control arms are even the same
find a front diff from a manual zr2 and get the diff in iron instead of aluminum

The front axle/differential from a ZR2 will not widen the front end of a non-Z. That is all in the frame AND suspension of the ZR2. So if that is the end goal that you are trying to attain, you will not get there by swapping the front diff from a ZR2.

That's what I thought but I just had to make sure I wasn't crazy. My goal was to get 3.73 gears up front and hopefully widen the front. Wheel spacers it is then

Get rims with the correct backspacing to widen the front.
