Thumbs down 2wd rims vs 4wd rims

Was told that I couldn't use the rims off a 2wd for my 4wd 02 blazer, is this accurate? Any advice?

2wd rims have less back spacing and therefore will stick out of the wheel well further. The bolt pattern is correct so they will bolt on.

They fit, I just put 2wd wheels on my 4x. I'm lifted on 31s and had to smack my fender bottoms a little (more than before) with a hammer for rubbing issues and they do "stick out" unlike normal stock 4x4 wheels but not some crazy 4 inches past the fender hangout.

Run 2wd offset rims on my mud tires.
