32 inch tires/285's???
 

I need some help here guys.

I got approved for 2000$ at discount tire and I wanna buy wheels and tires for my blazer.

it has a 2 inch body lift and 2 inch shackle lift/ torsion key

I want the tires to poke out of the wheel wells a good 2-3 inches.
I do not mind trimming at all.
I really want the wrangler dura tracs but they only come in a 31 or 285.

with the 285 I would have to run a 16 inch wheel. no big deal. I'm buying wheels any ways.

how much trimming is REALLY required here.
I don't want 31's
what back spacing should i go with? 4.5BS?

There are some hidden costs to having your wheels outside of the body. A lot of hidden costs!

one of the hidden cost is dealling with the compliments you`ll be getting LOL and not having people laugh cuz you drive a lowered offroad vehicle

Okay? so far only one of you has actually helped answer the questions I had, that's encouraging. I am well aware of "hidden costs" from wheels and tires sticking out of the wheel wells. More drive train and suspension wear(what new suspension parts are for) and rock chips and later on rust from the rock chips all over the sides of the car. (what fender flares are for)

I had the guy at discount tire roll a 285/32 out to my blazer, I would literally be trimming a good 3 inch on the front cab corner and 3 inch on the front valance.
I probably wouldn't be able to do much off roading either without worrying about more rubbing.

looks like I will be going with 31's for now, Dura tracs since I need something decent in the snow and not just a straight MT tire.

265/75/16 is a 32" tire. 285s are a 33".

thats what i thought too, but the guy at discount tire told me I was wrong lol.

hopefully next time I go in there I will get a different guy.

I ran 265/70/17/s on my Blazer with essentially the same lift for 2 years (took them off when road debris shredded one) and I had to trim about 3" off the back of the front fender. I was running that with 5.5" of backspacing on 17x9 rims. I never touched the front fender, but I would occasionally rub the frame with the back of the tire when turning. My 265/70/17's physically measured 31.6" tall with about 30% tread left, and I really doubt I could have run anything taller without more lift.

My suggestion would be to stick in the 31" range unless you're going to lift more, or check out Jamaroon and Blaz who did a writeup on how they did 33x10.5x15's on Blaz's non-Z Blazer. Blaz has since moved on from that and is finishing up a SAS swap on his Blazer.

I ordered 31 inch duratracs. with a 15x7 wheel with 4 inch BS
The wheels are all black MB TKO's
They look good, not my favorites but I like them because they are aluminum/light weight.
possibly lighter than stock which will keep stress on drive train and suspension down and hopefully won't be as bad on rotating mass effecting my speed/mpg as much

I run Cooper At-3's M/S 265 x 75 - 15 on a stock body/frame non ZR-2 2-Door 2005 Blazer
And im sure after 9 years the front end has weared down a inch But the tires only rub a bit and full wheel crank and Turning into a driveway on a bump No steering issues Not bad for brand new tires with meat $750 installed
