Alloy rims okay for wheeling??

Hi I have a set of barely used Alloy American Racing Rims that were on a 1969 Buick Skylark 350 and Im playing with the idea of throwing those rims on some new MT tires (im still looking for MT's that are in my price range and that would fit the rims). Any advice would be great. Im thinking that the alloy may be weaker than steel rims and i wouldnt be able to offroad? Any truth to this?

I would think Alloys would better stand up to wheeling...arn't the alloys supposed to be stronger and lighter than their steel counterparts?

Yea I believe they are lighter but I wasn't sure if they were going to be strong enough for alittle wheeling. It would be nice if they were stronger than the steel wheels.

i think the mickey thompson classis II are alloys and people use them to offroad with. it all depends on the metals that they use to make the alloys. (dad used to work at a foundary)
