BF GOODRICH MUD TERRAIN
 

Anyone have experience with the BFG Mud Terrain? I know the AT's are good tires, but can I get 40 or 50,000 miles out of the muc-terrain? do they hydroplane easy because I do at least 150 miles of highway driving every weekend to and from school.... on US 23, curvy 4 lane with a crap load of coal trucks.........

I have a set of 30 x 9.5's and love them. The wet traction wasn't very good so I had them siped at discount tire for $10 a tire. That really helped. You could potentially get 50k out of them if you take care of them (rotations, alignment, don't beat the crap out of them on the road, ect.) though your probably more likely to get about 40k out of them. As for hydroplaneing I haven't been able to get them to hydroplane. 2 weeks ago we had some tornados/funnel clouds/crap load of rain while I was down state. Had to drive back in a downpour. Everyone else pulled off the road, I'm guessing because there was too much water on the road. I was still doing 50mph though. I don't reccomend trying that but I'm still alive :D

How much would you expect to pay per tire?

I paid $110 a tire at discount tire for 30x9.5's the total mounted and all was just under 500 for 4 tires

any mud tire will slide on wet roads without siping. they have to much rubber hitting the road in one small area.

bfg m/t are expensive. never really ran them. other mud tires i can give u info on. i know a guy who ran interco super swamper SSR's and he got almost 30000 out of them. proper air pressure, rotating them, and no abuse(smoking them off) and they lasted that long. this was also on a superduty. alot more weight.

I was thinking of Cooper Discoverer STT's? Anyone here ever run um?

i know a guy that has the stt's on his f150 fx4 and he hates them he says that they are the roughes tire hes has ever had. but i have the st's and i love them. low road noise and they do very well in the rain.

In my honest opinion. Between the Cooper Discovery ST and STT, I like the STT better. Less road noise and it hooks up much better then the ST's. I have run both sets in 285/75R16 on my '87 S10-Blazer. Had both sets on the same truck. Currently the STT's are on there and staying.
