black 18" z06 wheels on a jimmy

i bought a set of 18" z06 wheels. what size tire should i use to give it a nice look? (i plan on lowering my jimmy 2/3 or 3/3)

why not go with the size on the Z06?

33x10.5 :icon_lol:.
I agree with Chris though. Why not go with a stock size for the Z06's?

Personally, I'd try and keep the overall stock diameter of the wheels, that way you're speedo will be just as accurate as before.

Oh... Pics or it didn't happen!

If you do get a different size tire and do not re-calibrate the speedo, not only will your speed be off but your mileage will be off on the odo vs actual mileage as well.

i dont wanna put on a too low of a pro becasue of where i live the roads are horrible

and your ABS too. although i personally care more about my speedo/mileage being acurate (i just unplug my ABS anyways).

i can understand jwayne, about the rough roads, but unless you're able to have your computer "adjusted" for the different OD, you're gonna run into a whole mess of problems with the above mentioned, plus your TCM will read everything improper, which will cause the lock-up to act up (didn't intend to rhyme there) and who knows what else.

what size is the factory Z06 tire? i know the fronts are different from the rears, so give me both.

jwayne13 11-18-2009 05:41 PM

im using all front tires, all 18s and the size is 275/40/18

wanna see pics!
Those rims will look great, btw.
How much were they? If you don't mind me askin'.

your closest tire size (to the stock truck size of 235/75/15) is going to be 275/50/18. this gives you a OD of 28.82 inches (compared to 28.87 inches), making it out by 0.18% the Z06's tire of 275/40/18 is only 26.66 inches, out by 7.66% more than the 3% maximum to maintain speedo/ABS function.

you can also try 245/55/18, OD of 28.61 inches, out by 0.91%, or a 245/60/18, OD of 29.57 inches, out by 2.37%-but your speedo will show slower than actual speed by 2.5 mph, not good.

go to a tire shop, look at the sizes i've thrown @ you, and see what you like. a 50 series side wall, on that wide of a tire is going to be pretty tall, so it may be to your liking.

hope this helped.
