Back in the spring I tracked down a set of 15" factory Camaro rims
For 30ish year old rims they were not terrible however they were corroded and the remaining paint was teal green :icon_wcam: A couple weeks ago I tracked down an old buddy that has a sandblasting soda blasting company I dropped off the rims and told him no rush , by spring is fine He called last weekend that they were done I am really happy with the job/ results Now I need to decide how to black them out I am undecided between PlastiDip or regular paint Here are some before and after pics https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1384915715 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1384915715 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1384915715 |

I really like them bare, but I will say I was impressed with the durability of plastidip. Ive had it on my cars wheels for over a year and two sets of tires and ive literally just touched up the edges when I get my tires changed. you can scrub them pretty good washing them too. Do a good 4 layers if you want good results and the ability to remove it later on. I used 3 cans for 4 wheels to give you an idea how I did mine.

Personally I agree with Rriddle3. I think they look great as they are, but it does depend a bit on the look of your truck. If you're going for the blacked out theme then by all means black out the rims. On blacked out rims I think having some silver around the rim and/or the spokes looks great too because it gives some contrast.

I think I am with everybody else here, I think they look great the way they are. Only thing I would do differently is to clear coat them so they are easier to clean.

My Blazer is a Black 2dr and going for the "blacked out look"
Powder coated would be awesome but pricey Already nearly $200 into them |
in that case than I say plasti-dip. Maybe even clear coat them then plasti-dip.
|
I would get them powder coated silver or gray. Matte finish powder coating? With all the crap they put on the roads the bare aluminum would be white in a few days.
|
dude!!!! you wasted that classic camaro blue on those wheels!!!
i would recommend black. i did not powder coat mine...i am a cheap bastard. i used dupont wheel paint in black then several coats of clear...worked for me. |
unfortunately I am not going to be able to paint them until spring now so they are in the basement now
