Cooper Tires?

Has anybody tried the Cooper SST Offroad Tires I have heard they are awesome. I don't really care about road noise, so that probably would not be an issue. I have been looking at several other tires. I currently have BFG stock size all terrains if you can even call them that they are horrible in the mud. I'm experienced offroader and have had problems with punctures from thorns and have been stuck because the tread fills with mud and will not clean itself out. Oh I am looking to go 31x10.50. What would be a good rim?

Lots o questions. :D

The STT don't make any more road noise then the BFG All-Terrains. They are pretty quiet for a mud tire.
I haven't been able to fully test the STT, however what little testing I did manage they did great.

About the only place I don't like the BFG All-Terrain is thick mud, then again anything other then a mud tire sucks in thick mud.

Your stock wheels will be just fine. Actually finding a decent replacement can be a challenge, backspacing is the big issue. Most aftermarket wheels go with 4" or so of backspacing. The factory wheels have 6" of backspacing. Check around though, S10's aren't the only GM vehicle that has 6" of backspacing with the 5 on 4.75 bolt patern. Firebirds, Trans-Ams, Corevette to name a few. Options are out there, and some of those stock wheels don't look too bad.

less backspacing gives it a wider stance though, i think it makes it look better

I've had then on for about a year now and i have to tell you that they are a great tire! In mud/snow/rain I havn't had a problem yet and ive put them through some abuse. They handle rocks and stumps fine too and I havn't gotten stuck yet in them! Plus with such an agressive sidewall they just look mean sitting on your truck!

How has your gas mileage been affected if you keep track, otherwise what do you get know with the tires on them. Also how does treadlife seem to be so far? Thanks.

Treadlife seems good so far, lil wear that i can see. With all the extra weight in my truck i cant say that the tires alone give me bad milage. i average 15mph, but then again i do have brushgaurd and about 100+ pounds of gear in the back.

If they aren't bigger then 30" diameter they will fit just fine.
