how much of a lift do i need?
 

i am new to blazers and modifications on cars in general. i am buying a 87 blazer tomorrow and bought 22" rims for it today. my problem is the tires that are on the rims are 305/45/r22. i know that is too big but im wondering if i can get by for a few weeks or so with them on and just some rub or if i just need to keep on the stock wheels for now until i can get a better tire. i would like to keep it stock height but if need be how much of a lift would i need to get the 305/45/r22 wheels on?

You bought the rims before you purchased the truck? Just a personal question, how much did you get the Blazer for , how much did you have to spend on your rims and tires?

i already saw and test drove the blazer so i know what i was getting. just had to wait a few days to help the seller with time for another vehicle which gave me time to get what i wanted/needed. and im only purchasing the blazer for $600. got the wheels for $350

I agree with your OP, 'I know that is too big'. What leaves me wondering why did you buy the wheels and tires anyway?

because like i said before i am new to all of this and didnt know what size would fit and what size wouldnt. i got them at a great price and couldnt pass it up. tell me where you could find 22" rims for $350 with brand new tires on them?....theres no way i was passing that up. so anyway i bought them then got to thinking about the size of tires afterward and my friend told me that yes they are too big. i just need a low profile tire. so yeah i messed up i bought them before i knew and now i know they wont fit. thank you. thats all i wanted to know

Try a rim diameter of 18in with a 55 series or 19in with 45 series. Sell your 22in for more than you paid for them if you can. Keep your truck stock height or slightly lower above all, which means your suspension will work as intended. Then select the rolling stock. Have fun, as you have gained a little knowledge along the way. Good luck

To answer your actual question, and assuming this is a k5 Blazer not s10, you would need somewhere around a 4" lift. Rough country offers a 4" lift but I'm not sure the price on it, you'd have to look it up.
