increase rear track width to equal front
I'm running a 15x7 with 5.5" backspace on the front of a 2003 4x4 Blazer. In order for the front and rear track widths to be equal, what backspace would it take on the rear? I don't want to use spacers.

well i used 1.5" wheel spacers/adapters..soooo i would say you need 1.5" diff. in the backspacing.

I would think about spacers though cause if you get the wider rims you will not be able to rotate your tires.

:icon_eek: Wow, those are huge!

yeah the tires only stick out past the fender like an 1". GM really had those wheels sunken in and obviously didnt pay attetion to the front and rear track.

Most pickups/suvs (and I'm assuming crossovers and passenger cars as well) have a narrower rear track.
I've heard everything from "it saves weight" to "tighter turning radius" to "wheels follow a different track so they won't dig the same ruts in the mud" I don't know the actual reasons but it was done on purpose rather than an oversight by GM |
Doesnt having a wider stance make the truck more stable and less likely to roll over. No wonder i have that warning label on my visor. I hope I made the truck more stable and not more likely to get stuck in the mud/snow.

i am reluctant to use my bolt on adapters because everyone sais they are not safe for daily drivers.... can i get insight... i really want to put them back on....
