Larger Rear Tires
Hey guys, I was wondering a few things about having larger tires in the rear.
First off, I am driving a 2002 4WD 4D Blazer. Does having larger rear tires screw up 4WD? Also, I want to buy all BFG All Terrain T/A KO's and have 30/9.5/R15's in the front and 31/10.5/R15's in the rear. Doing this would screw up the caster angle a little, but enough to matter/damage anything? I'm only doing this because I am going to get 2" shackles for the rear and most likely not crank my torsion bar at all since I don't want to risk ruining any front parts faster than normal. Anyway, thanks for any replies. |
You can run larger tires in the rear and be OK, technically. However, DO NOT put it in 4WD for any reason unless you are in really loose sand or a similar environment as your front tires will try turning faster than your rears and you will break stuff.
I'd either just go with the smaller tires (as larger/smaller tires on a 4x4 looks goofy IMHO) or crank the t bars a little so they'll fit. |
Well, I just really rather not crank the torsion bars because I only bought this Blazer used last year and I don't know the condition of any of the front end parts and I definitely do not have money to replace any of them.
Plus, I don't want to shell out the few bucks for an alignment anyway. The tires are more or less a fantasy for when I have money (I bought the Blazer with brand new tires on it, so I am good for a while). Most likely I'll just wait until I can get a 3" body lift. |
