problem with rims

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all!
Through the early spring (while there was still lovely salty roads) I neglected my Blazer a little. Now I'm paying the price. My front rims now look awful (see attached pict) I've tried polishing with a powerball but the staining and what looks like minor pitting remain. I have no idea of a good way to get these marks out of my rims and back to how smooth and shiny they were prior to the salty roads!
Any help with products to buy etc, methods for cleaning would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Have you tried a wet sand? and then polish them back up?

Next time you may wanna rinse off your truck once a day! I wish I could help otherwise...

Egh... mine were like that too. I couldn't find anything to get them clean. I ended up selling the set for 150 bucks and buying new ones.

You are going to need a pretty severe abrasive to get them down enough to get rid of the pits. Then step up a bit at a time until you are using polishing compound. Once you get there, WAX WAX WAX or clear coat.

AJBert, can you suggest a suitable abrasive? The thought of using sandpaper scares me a little LOL

I would suggest having them sand blasted. That will take the finish off without leaving deep scratches or any kind of grain from sanding. Then have them re-coated. I believe that they make a clear powder coat that would probably hold up better than clear coat would.

wheel acid.... spray it on a section scrub it with a toothbrush then rinse it off .. do NOT let it dry or it will destroy your rims

Rotate them to the rear and next year all four will match again...

bandidolenny... not helpful.

Others, thank you for your suggestions.
