Rethinking tire size
 

Ok, I have BF Goodrich radial long trail ta's (265/70/15) on my Blazer. the other night a few of us decided we were goin to a mud hole that someone found, well my truck didnt even make it half way an i buried it to the frame. now, i might be able to get a set of slightly used all terrains 31"x10.5 that seems to be so popular but my truck isnt lifted. the tires i have right now dont rub, so how much of an issue does anybody think ill have? thanks in advance

Your tires right now don't rub because they are a rather sedate road tread. My 265/70/15s are A/Ts and they rub like crazy. They still rub with 1.5' of lift AND trimming. 31's you need 2' of lift.

With no lift you can run 30x9.5 BFG Mud Terrains, that's what i'm running and they've done me pretty well so far....

Wolfpack, your tires might rub more because of the backspacing on your rims too, but im not sure what that is.

Ah! Didn't even think of that. That is exactly why they rub so hard. Althought there still is a difference in size between an H/T tread and an A/T:D

Don't even try to fit 31s without lift, you will only be causing yourself a headache. They will rub very badly especially if you plan to take it any sort of offroading. I have a 2" lift and I am planning on installing new shackles as well as cranking the tbars to give myself a little more room. I have rubbed once since being offroad and it wasn't all that bad, I just want more space in the wheel wells.

Ok, I was pretty sure the 31s would rub without lift, I didnt want to lift my truck this year, so Ill just leave the long trails on for now an keep the off-roading to a minamum. If you guys think I should do anything else just let me know, thanks

i just bought 31s and they get a lil annoying... im gonna go ahead and buy myself a 2" body lift and see if it helps.

It will help, I dont have any real problems with mine.
