'On Road' Tyres - advice / suggestions please...

Hi,

I've got a '99 UK Blazer, with what I assume are stock rims and tyres.

It's got Pirelli Scorpion A/T 235 75 R15s on at the moment, that need changing (the sidewalls are perishing, and I've got one slow leak....)

I don't go off road (the Blazer's stuck in 2WD anyway!) so I'm looking for advice on the best 'on road' tyres for me. I'm looking for low cost, better driving economy, and ideally more comfort.

My Blazer seems to be ridiculously uncomfortable - the ride is really hard (even with the tyres at 28-30PSI) -are there any tyres I could put on that would help soften up the ride? What's the lowest PSI I could safely drive on?

I don't know the history of the blazer - the mechanics who serviced it last year adjusted the front suspension up a little becuase they said it had been lowered down too far, and that may be why it was riding rough (but it hasn't made much difference).
Does anyone have a stock Blazer with 235 75 R15s on, and could give me an idea of what the gap between the top of the tyres and the wheel arch should be (front and back)- that way I could tell if someone has been mucking around with the suspension...

Any thoughts, advice or suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers

PaulF

Two words Michelin LTX. Good rain and snow tires, hardly any noise and I personally find them to be a smooth ride. Expensive at purchase, but easily a 100,000 km tire.
