Spare tire size question... no search results.
Lets make this short and sweet.... I have an 01 LT blazer 4x4. It does not have the g80 option on RPO codes. I am running 31x10.5x15 tires. Does the spare have to be same size or can it be the factory 235/75r15 It is only for emergency of course but need to know if it is safe for the drive train. Thanks everyone!

if you get a flat you need 2 of the same size tires on the rear axle and not drive in 4wd. it would be like driving with a dohnut but better. but it should be ok for a short distance. most suvs and cars dont come with full size spares any ways.

Well, I don't have a firm answer, but common sense would dictate that all 4 tires you're driving on need to be the same, or at least the front the same and the rear the same, when not in 4WD. If 3 tires at 31" diameters and 1 is 28" I personally think that 3 inches would cause some troubles.
Also, if you ever see any pictures of any spares anywhere, they're usually the same as what the Blazer is ridin' on. I plan on getting 5 30/9.5/R15's when I have the money. |
