Tire Choice...Uniroyal or GY

I do NOT have a lot of money to dump into tires right now...this was a VERY unexpected thing...a state mower threw some debree into the road and I hit it...TORE MY TIRES UP...by the time I get to my inspection month the tread won't be enough to pass so I might as well replace them all now instead of wasting money on a used tire.

I am torn between a Uniroyal Liberator or the Good Year Wrangler RT/S...

Tread on both is very close to being the same except the Liberator has a 50,000 mile warrant where the GY Wrangler doesn't. Also, free rotations are with the Liberator...

The negative I see is that the Liberator has a Load rate of 104, with the Wrangler at 105...the heaviest thing I pull around is a 14' fiberglass boat or a trailer with a 4-wheeler on it....

What say you...

If you maintain the tire rotations and balancing, and save all receipts as proof of work, the warranty is definitely the best way to go. The Wranglers are pretty poorly reviewed on tirerack.com 4/10 for would you buy this tire again..

My votes for the liberators :D

RE: Tire Choice...Uniroyal or GY

Now that I have read up on what load ratings are...the Jimmy could go as low as a 100 rating and STILL be above what it needs...The rear axle weight is 1,225 kg, divided by two is 612.5 so that shows it needs a 91 load rating on each tire as the rear is the heaviest. With a 104 it would support as much as 900 kg for 1800 kg on the rear....with the rear weighing at 2700 lbs and the tires allowing 3,968 lbs...that allows me to have an extra 1,268 lbs on the rear...which I will NEVER have....so I am going with the warrantied Uniroyals...

excellent choice. I just bought a set of 31" liberators and have put about 150 miles on them. So far, they seem to be great.

I have Goodyear Wranglers on mine, I love them.

Id be curious how JediKnight is liking his tire selection now almost a year later. Long term reviews are always helpful :)
