Tire size for 99 blazer
 

Need 4 new tires for our '99 4 dr. Blazer 4x4. When I check online to find the stock size, it says 205/75r15, which is what's on the vehicle now. But funny thing is, when we bought the car used, there were smaller tires on it.They really didn't look right (kinda chinzy). Anyway, a few years ago we put the205/75r15 tires on, but the speedometer is now off by a few milesand the tires just barely make clearance in the wheel wells. So I assumed that they were the wrong size. What a shock when I recently found out that they are the correct size.Why do they not seem to fit properly?Could the previous owner done something to the vehicle to make the smaller size fit? Anyway, what other tires besides 205/75/r15 might fit this vehicle. I'm trying to broaden our options of what we can buy (and afford.) Tires any bigger might rub the wheel wells. Thanks.

Check the sticker on the inside of the drivers door on mine it says the stock size is 235/70r15. if 205 75 r15 barely have clearance your blazer must have been lowered or the torsion bars are shot. I run 235/75r15s with all kinds of clearance I could even run 30x9.5 15s with no issues. Are your tires on stock rims ?

Interesting. Which online site did you use? Discount Tires shows the 205's for a ZR2 AWD, but 235/75r15 for the standard 4wd. Which do you have?

I had a 96 4dr Blazer 4x4 with 30/9.50/15s and still had clearance. I tweaked the T-bars just a little. 205/70s sound way too small. At least 235/75s.

yeah 205s and 235s both come stock on blazers. I would go up to the 235

i was told on this site that 205 are too narrow for a blazer LS and walmart website says that it fits my 96 blazer

you can tell your stock tire size by looking at the sticker on your driver side door

You werent told 205 is too narrow, you were told that 205 in Viva 2 is too light a tire for a 4000 lb curb weight vehicle. That is why Walmart wouldnt sell them to you

If you want a passenger car tire, then go for the same weight class eg Town Car.

But also bear in mind there is curb weight and Gross Vehicle Weight. Walmart has to go by Gross Vehicle weight.. in other words weight loaded to mfr recommendations.

You guys .. learn to read tire labels. Then go around feeling up tire sidewalls in the economy section.

The tire load rating is for maximum load before something drastic is likely when encountering road hazard or accidental underinflation.
anecdote: I bought a pair of cheap no-name car tires for a Lumina because I planned to sell it. Two days later, I was forced over a curb on a corner by someone who was too lazy to turn their steering wheel more than 1/3. The sidewall blew out like a cheap firecracker.
