What size tire by rim size?

I have done alot of searching and can't figure out what size tire would be right by rim size. Does anyone know if the tire width should be about the same as the rim width? I calculated to find out that 9.5" (the rim width I'm looking at) is 241.3mm. So would I go with a 235 or 245 width tire or is it better to go with a wider or narrower tire? As far as height goes I looked at the stock tire size 235/70-15 and came up with 27.96 O/A height so to switch to 22" rims and keep the O/A height about the same it looks like a 245/30-22 (245*.30*2=+22) will be about the same height with 27.79. I'm sure the larger tire on the stock size will have more "give" so the bigger rim with the tire might end up being a little taller in actual application. Does this sound about right to anyone else?

Edit: I found the info here if anyone else is interested.
