Will these wheels be ok?
Hey guys, ok, so I am looking at getting new wheels for my 03 4DR 4WD Blazer. I understand the differences between backspacing and offset. Currently my blazer is at stock ride height. I am thinking of going with some KMC XD122 Machined Wheels, however, with the backspacing being 4" and offset being 0mm, could anyone tell me if I would have any issues with these wheels if I ran stock tire sizes? How about 30x9.5s? I have also gone through other threads and have seen that people were having issues with the brake calipers rubbing. :/ Any advice would be very greatly appreciated!
P.S. Here is the link for the wheels: 15x7 Machined Wheel xd XD122 5x4.75 - Rims - XD122 - Machined - 5x4.75 - - 7 - 83.00 - 0 Thanks, Nick |
With 4" of backspacing I doubt you could run 30x9.5s without needing to lift a little. You would likely rub on the back of the front fender. You might get away with stock 235/70/15's. If you're wanting to use 30x9.5's you could just do a 1"-1.5" Torsion bar lift in the front. That doesn't cost any money to do, other than you should get a wheel alignment afterwards. Shackles or add-a-leaf to lift the back an inch or two can be done for less than $100 too.

Thank You Very Much! However, besides rubbing if I run the 30x9.5s, would there be any possible issues with the back of the wheel rubbing the brake caliper? I've read in other threads some people would shave the caliper until the wheel doesn't rub the caliper anymore? Is that ok to do?

Its pretty rare to have a wheel rub on a caliper with these trucks, most modern aftermarket wheels have more than enough clearance for the small brakes the s-10s come with. I have ground calipers on Toyota and old F/S GM with no problems, but I wouldn't recommend modifying any brake component.
