ZR2 Wheel Replacement

2 Attachment(s)
Hello Everyone,

I want to toss out this question. I have a 2001 ZR2 and I really like the stock wheels it came with. I had a new set of tires installed last year and the shop said the rims were shot and were cracked. Well turns out, he was right as I have to add air to three of them virtually every week. Per a couple of wheel refurbishment places I called around here, the cost is 150-180 per wheel. So on to buying new rims I go....

I see this set of 42 Series Rock Crawlers on Summit website and they are the right size 15in x 7in x 5.75 bolt but have a backspace of only 4.5 inches. I know I need 6 inches. Is it as easy as buying 1.5 in back spacers to achieve the proper fitment? Contrary to their name, I most certainly will not be doing any rock crawling... I just like their simple look. Also, will the 4.5 back space of this wheel mean the stock 31x10.5x15 tire wont fit? I have a feeling that this may not be a simple swap of the wheels if that is the case......

I have searched and the selection of wheels with a 6in backspace is pretty bad (and limited). I have not found anything I liked from Jegs or Summit...

Thanks

go with the 0 offset on the pacer wheel to give that more aggressive look that you seem to be shooting for but you shouldn't need any spacers.

Ah, thanks for that reply and after reading your response to what I wrote, I had my understanding backwards. If I go with the wheels with the 4.5 inches of backspace, I believe the wheels will stick out past the fenders 1.5 inches more. With the 1.5 spaces, they would stick out 3 inches and this is the opposite of what i wanted...

I was looking to keep everything as stock as possible.

That was my bad, as I got mixed up with backspacing, off sets etc....

They will work but if you still have the flarettes up front you may end up rubbing them. Look up Stockton wheels on the web. I ordered some 15X8's with 5.5" of bs a few years back. Same type of black steelies.

Thanks for the solid Stockton tip.

I will reach out to them.
