Default ZR2 wheels on a 1986

I haven't been on the site since I sold my last Blazer. I missed you guys, so I bought another so I could have an excuse to visit.

I got bitten by the S10 Blazer bug again, so I just got my hands on a 1986 2.8 4x4. I've been thinking of putting ZR 2 wheels on it.

Anyone else put these on to such an old model? I've seen someone here put them on a 94 4-door. What are the obstacles or cons of having these wheels on an 86?

I would think the issue would be with if you have the correct amount of back-space for the wheels for the geometry of the front suspension. There are wheel size calculators I've seen but I'm not sure of specs. I know they differ for 2wd vs 4wd Blazers.

Mine has the original aluminum wheels, the ones that have 4x4 etched in. I measured the backspacing of these. They have a 6 inch backspace on an 8 inch wide rim. I read the ZR 2 wheels also have a 6 inch backspace, but are 7 inches wide. I also read an old post that warns against these wheels because they rubbed on his. So I'm kind of iffy about wether to get them or stick with the oem's, which do look ok, but need some cleaning and refinishing.

They should fit fine. Are you sure that your current factory 4x4 rims are 15x8? I thought those were 15x7, same as the 2nd gen 4x4 rims. I ran a set of factory 1st gen 4x4 rims on my '96 Blazer for a year or so, and they fit exactly the same as the 2nd gen rims.

Make sure if you're measuring, that you measure from the inside face of the lip where the bead sits, not the outside edge of the lip.

Thanks for the advice. I think I did measure from the outside lip of the rim.
On that note, I just found a set for sale for 100 bucks. Gotta hit up an ATM now.

They fit just fine. The tires which came with the rims are 31x10.5's so they rub a bit against the wheel well since it's stock height, but I kind of like the look with the oversized tires and might just trim the inside of the well.

Here it is, in all it's faded paint and mismatched tires glory. It sat since 2014. I bought it about a month and a half ago. Replaced the fuel tank, pump, filter, plugs, wires, distributor and ignition module. Been tracking down rotted vacuum lines and bad grounds. It starts and drives, but idles high when I put it in gear. Also, the headlights don't work. Been having fun getting it going again.
