tire pressure monitoring systems

Hi all, I hope I have the right spot for the thread.

I just bought a 2008 Trailblazer believe it a 4.2 I know V6.

1))) On the way home a light it the upper right corner flashed for like a minute or so then stayed lit. It looked like a tire :) I believe it's the tire pressure monitoring systems. All tires are inflated at 32PSI.

So any ideas?

2))) ALSO since this is new truck to me, I was checking all the features out, I noticed rear speakers don't work.

There is only 71915 miles on it, AND it is spotless inside and out, so I don't believe it was abused.

It has factory everything. On the radio I put the "Fade" to "F" and the front speaker were on.. Put "Fade" to "R" and nothing .. Looks like the speakers are in the doors.

Monday I will take it back and check on these concerns. How ever any ideas for you guys on the 2 concerns?

rear speakers could have been replaced. possibly the wires have come off or are not getting a good connection. little concern there.

the TPMS, tire pressure monitoring system, possibly just needs to be reprogrammed. should be of no concern. simple thing to do. check owners manual. did the dash light look like this?

if your car only has 6 cylinders then it should be inline 6...not a v6. they didnt make them in a v6. they only had a "V" configuration if it has 8 cylinders. otherwise, its an inline 6 4.2l.

Yes dash looked like that symbol.

hmm inline... .. Still DOHC right!

its possible that one of the tire sensors are shot
I would check with a reputable tire dealer , they should be able to reset the sensors , hopfully at N/C for you
My brother had a new chrysler 300m and it was very tempermental ,he would not even let the dealer check tire pressure because it would sound the alarm for no reason
The tire sensors are now available aftermarket from places like Napa

What are these tire sensors and where are they on this model. Damn I am used to nothing newer then a 96 year vehicle. I am so out of date. This truck has stuff I never heard of!

The tire pressure sensors only last about 5 years, then fail. The 4.2 is a great motor.

the sensor is inside the rim and is part of the tire valve stem

I have a buddy that has a tire shop , he says most people here that are installing snow tires on plain steel rims dont bother with sensors on the rims because of the added cost
They just ignore the light on the dash

yes, i do believe that it is DOHC. should also have variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust cams. it really is a great motor. just not popular for the simple fact that its an inline. but for towing they are good engines. make more low end torque than the V-6's at a lower rpm too. BMW has been using inline 6's for decades. the inline in its construction is the most perfectly balanced motor that you can find. for every 120° of crankshaft rotation another piston fires. same as the new(er) 4.3l. unless you have an odd-fire. then thats a whole different animal. but you wont see those unless you go back a few years or order the wrong replacement crankshaft.

my wives jeep has the tpms sensors. discount tire replaces them for like 10.00 a wheel i think. i had them done with the last tires we bought. i dont remember it being too much.
