chat box??

ok idk if this has been suggested but..well i just came to this site from my other car enthusiast haunt(www.gmscf.com) and well i noticed that this site doesn't have a chat box, well on the above mentioned site, we have a chat box and its a cool feature were we all just talk about whatever and people can ask questions in real time and its cool
so maybe you mods could look into putting a chat box on here.ik itd be cool to actually talk to some of you in real time

We had a chat room at one point in time. Suffice to say that it did not last. Bad things came about.

It's too hard to monitor on a constant basis. One idea that might work is to setup scheduled chats. I've been on a few forums that had a scheduled chat every sunday at say 8pm EST. The only issue with that was the lack of turn out, but then again the member base on that forum was a lot less then this one.

I think what 97Bravada is talking about is a chat "box" not "room". Two different things. A "box" appears at the top of the main forum page. Some sites call it a shout out box.

Do`t know if vBulletin has that as an option.

Same basic concept and same basic problems.

Sisk 03-11-2010 06:57 AM

Yeah...it's still the fact that it can't be monitored 24/7, so it will just cause problems.

rriddle3 03-11-2010 06:59 AM

Been there, done that, don't want to go back.

yeah,my other site that im on is ALOT more relaxed on the monitoring,we can say pretty much anything we want in the threads/chat-box and curse words aren't blanked out in posts, the mods only get involved if it gets too out of hand or it gets too off topic/too personal..now ik you guys dont run your site like that and i respect that, hell i notice a lot less conflicts on here between members than there,so maybe you guys have the right idea idk.Anyway, thanx for at least looking at my idea :)
