It'd be nice to have an optional name field in the user info for each post--up by where it says your join date and post count.

A lot of members on here seem to know each other by at least first name, but for those of us who don't, it can be kind of confusing. Plus it makes it a lot more personal when everyone can refer to each other by first name if they choose to.

Of course it shouldn't be mandatory to put your name, but everyone would have the option to do so.

 

If a member chooses to show their name, it will be in their 'Public Profile' under the 'About Me' tab.

 

That seems like a good place, too. I think it'd be more convenient to have it in the post info.

I don't think that is what Rich is saying at all. He was just pointing out that the information is already available if the user has chosen to supply it.

One thing to note here, no one on the staff has the rights to make such a change. We can only suggest things to the site owners (internetbrands). Most suggestions get ignored...

I kinda like how Dave (NJ4x4) put his in his signature. That's kinda something I thought about. Instead of altering the outline of the posts, just make the first line of your sig have your first name. Or if you have a custom sig, have your first name included in one corner. Just a thought.
