Default 2002 S10 Blazer 2dr ZR2

Just acquired a non running ZR2 and going to go through it. I like a challenge and it looks like I just found it.
Have cleaned up a bit but quit running in 2013.

Welcome! It looks like a pretty nice truck, but not running for longer than it was doesn't help matters in terms of the health of the rubber components. You will likely have to replace everything made of rubber on the truck (vacuum hoses, radiator hoses, oil cooler lines, transmission cooler hoses, brake hoses, etc.) before you put it back on the road again just to make sure those things do not cause problems from age due to sitting without use.

Where was the vehicle located this whole time? Inside? Outside? Physical location (state/climate)? All of that plays into the possible condition of those rubber components.

Once you dig into it and get some specific questions, have a look around as there is a LOT of useful information already posted. If you can't find specific answers, post up in the appropriate forum section and someone should be able to answer your question. Good luck!

Thank you!! Yes I have already seen many hoses rotten. It spent it's life in southern Michigan. I acquired it from a good friend's nephew that bought it in 05 with 21k. It was parked in 2013... set under a tree until 2018 when he put it in his aunt's garage and it set in there until I moved it a couple weeks ago.
He says it started running rough and a lot of oil ran out in to the ground . He told me it was the passenger side head was bad. I don't know if he had a mechanic look at it or not. I have not found any video's on YouTube saying anything with heads. It looks like on YouTube there is a lot of issues with the distributor... spider injection system and the oil sending unit. I have not tried to turn it over yet. I think I will take out the plugs and oil up the cylinders first. There is no water in the oil and vice versa. Actually I was impressed with how clean the antifreeze is and the oil. Oil was changed in July of 13 and it looks like it was driven about 500 miles when parked. Supposed to have had 80k... Yep it has almost 180. It is what it is!
I just touched the wiring harness that laid above the AC box and the plastic fell apart in pieces... Have you seen such a thing? I looked at a couple in the salvage yard and they are the same. I hope I can find a good replacement. Yep, both parts are crumbling apart.
I will have a lot of questions if you are willing to help! I really appreciate it.
Last summer I did a V8 swap in an 02 Sport Trac and really enjoyed doing it. It turned out pretty good. It's my daily driver.

Welcome! Those ZR2s are cool.

Be sure to ask questions.

For the vacuum hoses, I created a couple posts to document those. If you search and can't find them let us know.

The outer plastic shell on the HVAC housing falls apart easily, but isn't really all that important. It is the inner part that is more important, but that is made from better stuff.

The wiring you will want to get back in loom properly though if that is crumbling to keep the wiring from getting damaged. I'm not sure if that is what you were also talking about as that can also happen with age.

The wiring is fine... I just moved it where it was laying on top of the case... It sure looks bad though. Has anyone done a instrument panel upgrade that tell all the information in a truck or Suburban with the same size motor? This might be an out of body thought!!

thanks again!!
