Question 96 blazer gremlin

OK, here is the deal,
I have a 96 blazer 4.3 4wd. In the spring, the engine became harder and harder to start. it got to the point where i'd have to cycle the key 241234 times, then it came to squirting gas into the throttle body. once summer came, i took out my supra and drove it, slowing puttin away at the blazer. I got a new fuel pump, (figured the old one was losing prime after sitting) changed the filter and i havent got it to run properly since. I thought maybe there was some water in the gas from the tank sitting outside with rags covering the hole, so ive tried methyl hydrate and new gas but it still keeps doin the same thing. I can get it to start only by squirting gas down the tb. and it will idle all day long, and when i feather the gas, it will rev up normally. but when i hit the gas hard, it immediatly dies without even trying to rev up. i've done tons of work on cars from headgaskets to motor swaps so i dont know why this is being such a pain in the ***. I dont have a fuel pressure tester, but i did take the valvestem out of the fuel line and plenty of fuel comes out. please help me

Blake

You will need to get a fuel pressure gauge for diagnostic purposes and follow this thread..https://blazerforum.com/forum/showth...ht=fuel+system

ok, i bought a pressure gauge today.
when i turn the key "on" the pressure only goes up to 40psi then once the relay shuts off after 2 seconds, it immediately goes back to 0psi (new pump and filter installed)

when i give it a squirt down the throttle body, the engine idles fine at 50psi, but as soon as i touch the gas it dies and back to 0psi. im thinking the fpr, but just looking for more advice before i tear into it.
